The 2010 best selling-car in Europe and award winning Ford Fiesta received an accolade from CIMB Autoworld Car of the Year Awards 2010 for the category of Best Sub-Compact car of the year.

The CIMB Autoworld Car of the Year Awards is a contest organized by Autoworld.com.my to award the title 'Car of the Year 2010' to vehicles in various categories. Judging was by a 12-person panel led by Chief Judge Mr. YS Khong, editor of Autoworld.com.my, automotive consultant and 5-time Malaysian Rally Champion, and 11 other motoring journalists and members of the motoring fraternity. In addition, Autoworld automotive enthusiasts were able to vote online for their favourite cars through this site.

First of its kind for an Internet portal, the CIMB Autoworld Car of the Year Awards combines on-the-road test drive evaluations done by its panel of judges and virtual online voting by Autoworld members to derive the winners for each award category. Judging criteria includes design, comfort, safety, economy, handling, performance, functionality, environmental requirements, driver satisfaction, price (value for money) as well as each vehicle’s technical aspects.

The results were reviewed by KPMG.

Since its official launch in October 2010 by SDAC, Ford Fiesta has received two noteworthy recognitions including the first from New Straits Times-Maybank Car of the Year 2010. Worldwide, the Fiesta has won hundreds of awards and received positive reviews from media and public which are evidently proven by its sales volume.

In Malaysia, the Ford Fiesta which is also the best selling model under the Ford stable has catapulted Ford sales to a 142% increase in sales over previous year.
